Mayor Weddle on scene of a commercial structure fire. It is under control with 19 firefighters responding.

One minor firefighter injury. The firefighter was in good spirits and transported by AILC to be further checked up. No other injuries reported. The cause of these fires are currently undetermined.

Please remember the firefighters, owners, and families affected by these emergencies.

We are proud of the work London City Fire Department does. Two fires today with quick knockdown.

This week, we lost a longtime London Tourism & Parks employee, Malvin Merced, to cancer. Known to many as "Paco," he had been with our program since 2015, tirelessly working on events and helping to maintain and develop park properties. He was always a cheerful presence, and he will missed by everyone involved in our program. Funeral arrangements will be shared in the comments section.

City Hall will be closing at 1:30 PM at the recommendation of the Governor to allow employees time to prepare for incoming weather. We are continuing to monitor the weather and will update this post if anything changes.

Mayor Weddle and Council Members were proud to attend the first stop of the Kentucky Senate tour of Eastern Kentucky yesterday, where major funding announcements were made.

The London - Laurel County Chamber of Commerce hosted community and business leaders at Creekside Gardens London KY as Senate President Robert Stivers and Senator Brandon J. Storm - Kentucky, 21st District outlined the historic funding that London and surrounding areas received in the budget. This includes $1M for the London Tourism & Parks Fairgrounds Project, and $1M for the City of London City Plaza, with many more funded projects in the county and surrounding areas.

Thank you Senator Storm for supporting these projects and continuing to show pride in the community! We are excited about continued opportunity, partnership, and growth!
